Here are some ideas on how to make your everyday life a little more sustainable.
ON THE GO, BRING ALONG :
- Reusable water bottle that you can always refill with water to quench your thirst
- Reusable cup for your coffee to go
- Tupperware for when you buy your lunch and snacks from the market
WHEN GROCERY SHOPPING :
- Bring Mesh bags for fruits and vegetables
- Use reusable bags to pack your purchased goodies
- Select shops that avoid packaging (e.g. zero waste free shops)
WHEN SHOPPING :
- Buy second hand where possible (clothes, books, appliances, etc.)
- Become a minimalist and think about necessity of each of your purchases: Not buying is the most sustainable option!
- Support local brands that support local communities and use natural resources
WHEN EATING OUT :
- Try out tasty vegetarian options, which are much more climate friendly than meat
- Choose restaurants that source their ingredients from local and organic farmers
WHEN AT HOME :
- Hang your wet clothes on a drying line or rack instead of using a dryer to save energy
- Turn off your devices at night
- Use soap bars rather than bottled shower gel to avoid unnecessary plastic
COMMUTING :
- Use public transportation whenever possible and avoid the traffic, Bangkok has an excellent BTS and MRT network
- When travelling during the weekend, consider taking trains or buses (if possible) rather than flying
OTHER IDEAS :
- Save all gifts bags, gift boxes, bows and ribbons that you can reuse for your own gifts
- Switch to a sustainable search engine like ecosia.org which runs on 100% renewable energy and plants trees with their profits
