BMUB Visited Thailand for Official Protocol and Discussion with ONEP

Recently, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) visited Thailand for official protocol and discussion with Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP).
Besides the official meeting and discussion, BMUB also expressed their interest to visit GIZ project’s pilot sites. In this regards, 2 GIZ projects: GIZ-Support to the Development and Implementation of the Thai Climate Change Policy (CCA) and GIZ-Improved Management of Extreme Events through Ecosystem-based Adaption (EbA) in Watersheds (ECOSWat) have jointly presented the cooperation between projects in the pilot sites located in Nakhon Si Thammarat province.

The delegation was very warm welcomed by representatives from public sector: Department of Water Resources, civil society: Living Weir Community, academia from Walailak University and key stakeholders. The delegation learnt about the flood and drought issues effected by Climate Change and the possible EbA measures to adapt and tackle the situations. Furthermore, the delegation also learnt the EbA approaches in broader approaches for instance, the replacement of rubber plantations (monoculture) to diversified agriculture. Not only to change the living conditions, but also to conserve and rehabilitate the biodiversity in the upstream areas.

We are very pleased to be part of the strong cooperation between Thailand and Germany.
